WHAT IS DISCRIMINATION?

Discrimination is broke into four categories:

Direct discrimination occurs when a person is treated differently because of one of the above-mentioned protected characteristics. For example, avoiding promoting a woman just on the basis of her gender.

Indirect discrimination occurs when a policy, practise, or method has the unintentional consequence of discriminating against a person's protected characteristics. In the absence of a legitimate justification, this amounts to indirect discrimination.

Harassment occurs when a person is subjected to unwanted behaviour because of a protected characteristic.

Victimisation occurs when someone treats someone differently.
